Ishtar's Daughters started as a beginner class under the direction of June. Everyone had so much fun dancing together they wanted to stay together as a group as they progressed through all levels of learning this dance.

They have learned many new dances and June offered them an opportunity to perform with Chandani at the Ithaca Festival and Ishtar's Daughters were born.

Ishtar's Daughters are also very committed to learning the dances and culture of the Middle East and North Africa and performing authentic dance and wearing authentic costumes to show their respect for the many cultures of that area.

Ishtar's Daughters repertoire includes but is not limited to Egyptian Oriental and Folkloric, dances using props such as swords, veils and canes. The group is currently learning Turkish Oriental dance.

Chandani and Ishtar's Daughters compliment each other well in performance being able to perform many different dance styles with much enthusiasm and joy to the delight and enjoyment of our audiences.

Selection into group is determined by the director after evaluating the dancers ability and commitment.
